Strange how time began,
for without matter, there was no time,
and without time, matter doesn't matter.
This it was --lifeless, formless--
yet God watched its new bubbling light shine forth.
All gravity pulling and forming in this great deep,
wrestling all elements to order.
Mysteries unfolding, secrets no man has seen,
yet a trail for a silent dog, seeing nothing wrong.
One was there. Using simple water to create all things,
a giant playdough to stretch and form.
Waters of Life, so basic, so simple,
like the best design of the best designer.
Forming from fluid blocks
the framework to hang the universe.
A swimming deep for One to look upon
and contemplate the plan.
All is beyond the door,
needing only the special key that unlocks.
One thing so small, yet
perfectly fitting in the Master builder's hand.
Out there huge, massive, swirling round motion
separated with dark and light.
A cycle delimiting, defining the first day;
powerful, creating actions of the dawn of history.
Power shown alone,
an action guided by One thought and it was so.
More was destined soon to come,
more was needed soon or all would be lost.
All is not good until the unfinished business is done.
No delay in sight; No time to wait.
Set in motion, split apart, happy results,
massive groanings, quickly done.
All earth is frozen, rocks all done,
tiny signatures held within
--circles, circles they are then.
Building, building, the clock's are wound; time is set.
It is good; a design fit for a King,
a foundation for all things.
Strong and sturdy for its appointed days,
to last the future storms.
Alarms will sound
when future days are done;
and the first day will have its last
and the One before is also last.
