[7331] After the war while they were living in Nemaha and Ferne was running the switchboard, Marion worked as a hired hand on various farms and sometimes ran the switchboard or watched the kids when Ferne was sick or had to appointments.

[7334] Marion was trained as a medic, got some training in Maryland; Fort Barkley, Texas and finally Alexander, Louisiana. Ferne and Donna were able to join him for a short time in Louisiana.

[7337] When Marion came home it seemed that he was always starving, couldn't get enough to eat, some nights he wake Ferne up in the middle of the night to cook him a meal. Not make him a sandwich or fry him a couple of eggs but a "meat and potatoes" kind of meal. Sometime shortly after he came home he was riding in a pick-up with his brother, Butch, when a plane approached flying very low, Marion instinctly dove under the dashboard and poor Butch didn't know what to think. The war had definitely left its mark.

[1225] Lena Lissa was 62 yrs., 9 mos. and 16 days at time of death.
[1227] I went to the Clear Lake cemetary but was unable to find her tombstone. It may be that she is buried in the Swedish Cemetary north of town.
[1229] John shares obelisk with 3 of his young children. Wife's name not on obelisk, but believe she is buried with him.
